My name is Marcos Romero, I am Brazilian. I started programming games with the C language in 1993 when I was 14 years old.

I made available my old games and a variety of teaching materials that I created about game development on a blog in Portuguese called Romero Games:

In 1999, I started the first game development company in the state of Pará, northern Brazil. The company name was RH Games. For more information about RH Games visit the blog:

In 2003, I founded a local group called Beljogos, with the goal of encouraging the development of games in northern Brazil:

In 2011, I started a blog with the goal of teaching game programming with UnrealScript. I received good feedback regarding this blog:

In June 2013, I had a pleasant surprise. Epic Games invited me to be part of the Unreal Engine 4 closed beta program so I could have prior access to Unreal Engine 4 to be able to experiment and collaborate with the evolution of the tools.

Later I received a poster manually signed by Tim Sweeney, the creator of the first Unreal Engine, my idol in game programming. Thank you Epic Games, for the Unreal Engine and this unique opportunity.



In August 2015, I had another awesome surprise. Epic Games awarded me an "Unreal Engine Educational Dev Grant" for the work that I have done to help people to learn Unreal Engine 4 with Romero Blueprints blog. The official announcement can be seen in the link: Unreal Dev Grants Fund Education.



In March 2016, at the Game Developer Conference, Epic Games distributed to the public the Blueprints Compendium, a booklet that I wrote for them.



In June 2017, I finished writing volume 3 of the Blueprints Compendium. As a thank you, Epic Games sent me a wireless Logitech mouse with an Unreal logo and a very soft Unreal Engine blanket:



In 2018 Epic Games hired me to write the official Blueprint Instructors’ Guide. Click on the image below for more information.



In 2019 Packt contacted me to write the book Blueprints Visual Scripting for Unreal Engine - Second Edition. The book can be purchased from Packt or Amazon.



In 2020, my project to teach C++ programming in Unreal Engine was selected in the Epic MegaGrants program.



In August 2020, Epic Games invited me to a Livestream with them. Livestream's title is: Teaching & Learning Blueprints with Marcos Romero, which is available at Twitch and YouTube.

In August 2023, Packt invited me to be a part of a Tech Advisory Board for Unreal Engine Professionals. I will help Packt in shaping its Unreal Engine publishing roadmap.



In December 2023, I started collaborating with Polish studio Realtime Squad as a Verse programming specialist. The studio created a Fortnite experience based on the city of Poznan. Map code: 6595-6730-8240
